Beauty salon or makeup artist? What to choose for your wedding

Event makeup in Bacău, professional makeup by Pucca Diana, makeup artist

When you are getting ready for a wedding and looking for someone to do your makeup, the first thing you type into Google is usually beauty salon. That is natural, it is what the place is called where you go when you want to look good. Except that at some point you start wondering whether a salon is exactly what you need, or whether a makeup artist would be a better fit. I would like to answer you honestly, even when the answer does not always favour me.

What a beauty salon does

A salon gathers several services under one roof: hair, manicure, pedicure, skincare, sometimes treatments and waxing. Its strength is exactly that, convenience. In a single morning you can have your hair, your nails and your makeup done without moving from one place to another, and when time is short that matters enormously.

If you want several things at once, a good salon is the right choice and I recommend going there. I am not going to talk you into anything else.

What a makeup artist does

I do one thing and I have been doing it for sixteen years. I do not cut hair, I do not colour it, I do not do nails. All my attention, all my time and all my products go in one direction.

That means I work with products chosen strictly for how they look on skin and how they last, not because I have a contract with someone. I am not a brand ambassador and I have no paid collaborations. My kit includes YSL, Hourglass, Lancôme, Charlotte Tilbury, Pat McGrath, Natasha Denona, Make Up For Ever, MAC, Nars, Huda Beauty, Makeup by Mario, Rare Beauty and Fenty, and for every bride I choose from them what suits her skin.

A salon solves your whole morning. A makeup artist solves your face, but solves it differently.

The difference you only see in the photographs

I pay particular attention to how the makeup reads both in real life and in photo and video. They are two different things. Makeup that looks beautiful in the mirror can read flat or too white in photographs, and makeup built for cameras can look like too much seen up close.

I want the skin to look beautiful up close, and the makeup to stay just as elegant years from now, when you look at your wedding photographs again. That is the only test that really counts, because the photographs stay long after the day is over.

The trial, the thing you rarely get in a package

Before the wedding we do a trial of around 60 minutes. It is the moment when we test ideas, shades and different styles together, to find what suits you and, above all, which version you feel best in.

The look chosen at the trial does not have to be identical to the one on the wedding day. We can keep the elements you liked and adapt them later. I recommend the trial at least a week in advance, so that on the day you come without worrying about choosing the makeup.

How to choose, in practice

If you want hair, nails and makeup on the same morning and time is tight, go to a salon. If makeup is the thing that worries you most, if you have had an experience where you did not recognise yourself, or if you want a trial beforehand, then you need someone who does only that.

Many brides choose both: hair at the salon, makeup with me. We coordinate the times in advance, and the morning flows without rushing.

What I actually want

Whatever style you choose, the result has to be about you: a luminous, elegant, authentic version of you, not a person you do not recognise. If that is what you find at a salon, very good. If you feel you need more time and more attention on one single thing, then let us talk.

All the rates are on the pricing page, and the details about the wedding day on the bridal makeup page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a beauty salon and a makeup artist?

A salon offers several services under one roof: hair, nails, skincare, makeup. A makeup artist does one thing, with more time and with products chosen strictly for the skin and for how they photograph. If you want hair and nails on the same morning, the salon is more practical. If makeup is the thing that worries you most, choose someone who does only that.

Can I go to a salon for hair and to you for makeup?

Yes, many brides do exactly that. We coordinate the times in advance, so the morning of the wedding flows without rushing and without moving from one place to another in a hurry.

Do you also do hair or nails?

No. I do makeup only and, since 2026, brow shaping and tinting. Hair, lash extensions and skin treatments are separate procedures with other professionals.

Why does the trial matter if a salon does not do one?

Because at the trial we test ideas, shades and styles together, so that on the morning of the wedding there is nothing left to decide. The look from the trial does not have to be identical to the one on the day, we can adapt it. I recommend the trial at least a week in advance.

Where are you in Bacău and do you travel?

The studio is on Strada George Apostu 11 in Bacău, and on the wedding day I travel to the venue, in Bacău and the surrounding area: Onești, Moinești, Comănești, Buhuși, plus Roman, Piatra Neamț and Adjud.
